Chenab Lake Trek – 6 Days Itinerary
Day 1: Rishikesh/Dehradun → Joshimath (250 km | 9–10 hrs)
Your journey begins with an early morning taxi pickup. Drive past Rishikesh toward Devprayag (472 m), where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers merge to form the holy Ganga. Continue onward to Rudraprayag (895 m), the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini, followed by Karnaprayag, where Alaknanda meets the Pindar River.
Reach Joshimath by evening and check into your hotel. Overnight stay and dinner at Joshimath.
Day 2: Joshimath → Theng Village (2,200 m)
After breakfast, check out and begin your journey toward the Chenab Valley Trek. A short 14 km drive takes you to Theng Village, passing through dense oak, deodar, and pine forests. Arrive at the forest campsite in Theng, where your stay and dinner arrangements are made.
Day 3: Theng Campsite → Chenab Base Camp (3,200 m | 7–8 km trek)
After an early breakfast, start your 7–8 km trek toward the Chenab Base Camp. The trail passes through scenic bugyals (meadows), wildflowers, small streams, and rhododendron patches. Arrive at the base camp, located in open meadows offering panoramic mountain views. Overnight stay and dinner at the campsite.
Day 4: Chenab Base → Chenab Lake (3,960 m | 7 km round trip) → Base Camp
Post breakfast, begin your final ascent to Chenab Lake, a 3.5 km trek one way. The crystal-clear glacial lake sits amidst snow-clad peaks, alpine flowers, and serene Himalayan silence. The reflection of the high mountains on the lake makes this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Return to Chenab Base Camp before late noon. Overnight stay and dinner at the campsite.
Day 5: Chenab Base Camp → Theng Village (12 km trek) → Joshimath (16 km drive)
After breakfast, trek back to Theng Village. From here, board your taxi back to Joshimath. If time permits, explore local attractions such as the Narsingh Temple and Shankaracharya Math.
Overnight stay and dinner at Joshimath.
Day 6: Joshimath → Rishikesh/Dehradun (260 km)
After breakfast, begin your return journey toward Rishikesh/Dehradun. Arrive by evening with unforgettable memories of the mystical Chenab Valley. The tour concludes here.
